“NO NAME CREEK” BAKED BEANS

Behind every good recipe is a good story – or there should be according to Cee Dub! The recipe in this video exemplifies what sets Cee Dub’s Dutch oven cookbooks apart from cookbooks by other authors. Cee Dub “spiced” his Dutch oven and camp cookbooks with stories from his years patrolling Idaho’s back country as an Idaho Conservation Officer. By his own admission he’s worn out more sleeping bags than some folks will ever own.

So…Watch Cee Dub make his version of one of America’s favorite recipes – baked beans – as you also ride along on a horse back trip into the Idaho wilderness area when he was an Idaho Conservation officer. It’s Cee Dub’s belief that camp cooks find themselves faced with the need to improvise more often than most other cooks. Why, with no grocery store or fresh market with in a days travel, improvisation is often the only way to make dinner when one doesn’t have all the ingredients for a given recipe. In this case, the creative use of a variety of ingredients led to the creation of a new recipe that’s become many families favorite baked bean recipe.

Perhaps the moral of the story is this: One doesn’t have to be camped in the middle of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area to be creative. When it comes to Dutch oven and camp cooking let your motto be – Make the best with what you have!
