Campfires are and will always be the highlight of any camping trip. Cee Dub admits he only planned on writing one cookbook, but demand generated by his Public Television Series, Dutch Oven & Camp Cooking had him back at the computer writing this second cookbook. Cee Dub dedicated this book to four of his friends and his old black lab, Snoose, who are no longer here to sit around a camp fire.
A family trip to Wilbur, Nebraska, to celebrate Penny’s Czech heritage at Wilbur’s annual Czech Days was all it took for Cee Dub to begin compiling recipes from around the world for his third cookbook. Cee Dub never says which book is his favorite, but freely admits many of his favorite recipes are found in this book. They include Sunday Morning Quiche and Crab Rockefeller.
This cookbook mixes it up a bit and reflects Cee Dub expanding his own horizons. Cee Dub recognizes how important our dinner table is in our lives whether at home in the dining room or a folding table in camp. Since publishing his first cookbook, baking sourdough bread has become a passion of Cee Dub’s which led to a comprehensive sourdough section in this fourth cookbook. In addition you’ll find sections on making your own homemade sausage; plus, for laughs and fun, there is a section on Hill Billy Cookin’.
Cee Dub says if he were a country western singer this cookbook would be his volume of “Greatest Hits”! But…given he is vocally challenged he titled this cookbook as ‘Favorites’. These are the recipes Cee Dub and Penny use at home, on their river trips, family outings, hunting camp, backyard cook outs with friends, teaching clinics, sportsmen’s shows, and for his TV appearances on the Sporting Chef which airs on the Sportsmen’s Channel.
